Amazon Cargo Plane Crashes in Miami: 5 Dead in Shocking Disaster

Miami cargo plane crash has left five people dead and five others injured after an Amazon-branded Boeing 767 cargo aircraft overran a runway at Miami International Airport on Sunday, September 6, 2026.

The Boeing 767-300, operating as 21 Air Flight 7598, was landing at Miami International Airport shortly before 2 p.m. local time after departing from Luis Muñoz Marín International Airport in San Juan, Puerto Rico, according to the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).

Officials said the aircraft overran Runway 30, crossed beyond the airport boundary and struck multiple vehicles on a nearby road before coming to rest in a field. The aircraft caught fire, sending heavy flames and smoke into the air.

More than 60 Miami-Dade Fire Rescue units responded to the scene. Three injured people were reportedly in critical condition and transported to a trauma centre, while two others were taken to a local hospital.

The incident caused major disruption at Miami International Airport, with runways and taxiways temporarily closed while emergency crews responded and assessed the scene.

Amazon confirmed that the aircraft was operated by contract cargo carrier 21 Air. The company said its immediate priority was supporting those affected and cooperating with local authorities.

The cause of the Miami cargo plane crash remains under investigation. The FAA and other authorities are expected to examine the aircraft, flight operations and circumstances surrounding the runway overrun. The FAA notes that preliminary accident information can change as investigations develop.
