“Lafu Kesar’s Expedition to the North”

Lafo Kesar’s Final Battle Against Dre Shima Rgyal
When Lafo Kesar struck with all his might, the giant cried out in pain, exclaiming that this time, someone much more powerful had come.
Lafo Kesar introduced himself as Habu Dongbo and challenged the giant. At that very moment, Dre Shima Rgyal delivered a powerful kick, sending Lafo Kesar flying a distance of three pairs of oxen.
Lafo Kesar then made offerings to his guardian deities. Wearing his distinctive attire, he began crushing the giant's body, starting from the giant's big toenail and moving up to his waist and the area between his shoulders.
Dre Shima Rgyal cried out:
“Oh! I feel the presence of someone who can kill me. I can sense that my death is approaching.”
Lafo Kesar replied:
“O Dre Shima Rgyal! Do you not know that Lafo Kesar, the Son of God, has arrived? Do you not remember the agreement we made? Since I have now set foot in your territory, I am going to kill you.”
The monster responded:
“Yes, Kesar, you are right. We monsters often forget important things. All we remember is going into the desert to find food and satisfy our hunger. You, on the other hand, are a human being and are much wiser.
“Now that you have defeated me, you will not spare my life. I have neither a mother nor a sister, nor any other relative who would mourn my death. So, will you allow me to say a few words of condolence for myself before I die?”
Lafo Kesar agreed.
The giant then began to recount the events of his life in a poetic lament.
Dre Shima Rgyal’s Poetic Lament
“Oh! The body of Dre Shima Rgyal!
How mighty this body once was!
How mighty this body once was!
It conquered and plundered the lands of ‘Badod’ and ‘Tsen.’
This body—my body—was truly powerful!
It defeated the mighty ‘Srinpo Drichen.’
How powerful this body once was!
It defeated the monster ‘Dambi.’
How strong and vigorous I once was!
I conquered the colliding mountains and the crashing gates.
This body—my body—was truly powerful!
But now it faces its worst possible end!
This body, which accomplished all these great deeds,
Was neither strong enough nor wise enough
To understand and overcome two things:
A woman's deceit and her deception…”
With these words, Dre Shima Rgyal completed his self-condolence.
Lafo Kesar then began killing him with his small sword.
The giant suddenly cried out:
“O Lafo Kesar! Stop for a moment! I will give you some valuable advice.”
Lafo Kesar paused, and Dre Shima Rgyal delivered his advice in the form of a song.
The Giant’s Advice to Lafo Kesar
“Even if a man's wife gives him nine sons,
He should never reveal the secrets of his life to her.
Even if he loves her from the depths of his heart,
He should never disclose his life's secrets to her.
For in this world, no woman can be faithful,
And a man cannot trust a woman…”
After delivering this advice, the giant continued:
“O Kesar! I have no brother or relative in this region. That is why I had to keep Malda Brumskid hidden inside my fortress.
“I had made half of her face white and the other half black, making her appear extremely ugly. I did this so that she would not escape and marry another man.
“Now that it seems you are about to kill me, I will restore her face to its original beauty so that she can marry whomever she wishes. Tell her to come to me.”
However, Malda Brumskid was afraid of her husband.
Dre Shima Rgyal reassured her:
“Do not be afraid of me. I swear by the golden ring, the blue book, and the land of the gods that I will not harm you. Come closer to me. Come to me.”
Malda Brumskid approached him and pretended to cry.
She allowed the giant to lick her face with his tongue. As he did so, her face was transformed, and she became an exceptionally beautiful woman, whose features shone as brightly as the sun.
Malda Brumskid returned to the fortress and sat on its rooftop to watch what would happen next.
The Giant’s Death and the Return of the Victims
From the rooftop, Malda Brumskid witnessed Lafo Kesar tearing open the belly of her husband, Dre Shima Rgyal.
Dozens of people emerged from inside the giant's stomach.
They began arguing among themselves, each claiming credit for the giant's death.
Some said:
“My oxen tore open his belly with their horns.”
Others insisted:
“No, my axe cut open his stomach.”
Still others claimed:
“No, it was our arms that ripped his belly apart.”
Everyone continued to claim that the event had occurred because of their own efforts.
In reality, all these people had been devoured by the giant at different times—either in the desert or at various other places where they had been working.
Thus, the people who had once been swallowed by Dre Shima Rgyal were finally freed following his defeat.

لفو کیسر نے زور سے وار کیا تو دیو درد سے چلّایا کہ اس بار کوئی زیادہ طاقتور آدمی آیا ہے۔
لفو کیسر نے اپنا نام ہابو ڈونگبو بتا کر اسے للکارا۔ اسی لمحے ڈرے شیما رگیال نے زور سے لات ماری اور لفو کیسر تین جوڑ بیلوں کے فاصلے تک جا گرا۔
اب لفو کیسر نے اپنے محافظ دیوتاؤں کو نذرانے پیش کیے، اور اپنی مخصوص پوشاک پہن کر، اس نے دیو کی انگوٹھے کے ناخن سے لے کر کمر کے بیچ تک، اور کندھوں کے درمیان والے حصے تک کو کچلنا شروع کر دیا۔ ڈرے شیما رگیال چلایا:

عفریت نے جواب دیا: "ہاں، کیسر، تم ٹھیک کہتے ہو۔ ہم عفریت اکثر اہم باتیں بھول جاتے ہیں۔ ہمیں صرف یاد رہتا ہے کہ صحرا میں جا کر کھانا کھائیں اور اپنے پیٹ بھر لیں۔ تم، دوسری طرف، انسان ہو اور زیادہ سمجھدار ہو۔ اب تم نے مجھے شکست دے دی ہے اور میری جان نہیں بخشو گے۔ میرے پاس نہ ماں ہے، نہ بہن، نہ کوئی اور رشتہ دار جو میری موت پر روئے۔ تو کیا تم مجھے اجازت دو گے کہ میں اپنی موت پر خود تعزیت کے چند الفاظ کہہ سکوں؟"
لفو کیسر نے رضامندی ظاہر کی۔ پھر عفریت نے اپنی زندگی کے واقعات شاعرانہ انداز میں بیان کرنا شروع کیے:
"اے! ڈرے شیما رگیال کا جسم!
کتنا طاقتور جسم تھا یہ!
کتنا طاقتور جسم تھا یہ!
جس نے "بادود" اور "تسن" کی سرزمین کو شکست دی اور لوٹا۔
یہ جسم – میرا جسم – کتنا طاقتور تھا!
اس نے عظیم "سرینپو دریچن" کو شکست دی۔
کتنا طاقتور جسم تھا یہ!
جس نے عفریت "ڈمبی" کو شکست دی۔
میں کتنا طاقتور اور متحرک تھا۔
میں نے ٹکرانے والے پہاڑوں، ٹکرانے والے دروازوں کو فتح کیا۔
یہ جسم – میرا جسم – کتنا طاقتور تھا!
لیکن اب یہ اپنے بدترین انجام کا سامنا کر رہا ہے!
یہ جسم جس نے یہ سب عظیم کارنامے انجام دیے
نہ اتنا مضبوط تھا اور نہ اتنا ہوشیار تھا۔
دو چیزوں کو سمجھنے اور اس پر قابو پانے کے لیے
عورت کی دھوکہ دہی اور فریب کو۔۔۔"
اور اس طرح ڈرے شیما رگیال نے اپنا تعزیت نامہ مکمل کیا۔ لفو کیسر نے اپنی چھوٹی تلوار سے اسے قتل کرنا شروع کیا۔ دیو نے چیخ کر کہا: "اے لفو کیسر! ایک منٹ رک جاؤ، میں تمہیں اچھی نصیحت دوں گا" لفو کیسر رک گیا اور ڈرے شیما رگیال نے اسے یہ نصیحت گانے کی صورت میں دی:
"اگر کسی مرد کی بیوی اسے نو بیٹے بھی دے دے
پھر بھی اسے اپنی زندگی کے راز اس پر ظاہر نہیں کرنے چاہئیں
چاہے وہ دل کی گہرائیوں سے اسے چاہتا ہو
پھر بھی اسے اپنی زندگی کے راز اس پر ظاہر نہیں کرنے چاہئیں
کیونکہ اس دنیا میں کوئی عورت وفادار نہیں ہو سکتی
ایک مرد عورت پر بھروسہ نہیں کر سکتا۔۔۔"
یہ نصیحت دینے کے بعد دیو نے کہا: "اے کیسر! میرا اس علاقے میں کوئی بھائی یا رشتہ دار نہیں ہے، اسی وجہ سے مجھے مالدا برمسکید کو اپنے قلعے میں چھپا کر رکھنا پڑا۔ میں نے اس کے چہرے کا آدھا حصہ سفید اور آدھا کالا کر دیا تھا تاکہ وہ اس طرح بدصورت عورت نظر آنے لگی۔ میں نے یہ اس لیے کیا تاکہ وہ بھاگ نہ جائے اور کسی دوسرے شخص سے شادی نہ کر لے۔ اب جب کہ لگتا ہے کہ تم مجھے مارنے والے ہو، میں اس کے چہرے کو پہلی جیسی خوبصورتی میں بحال کر دوں گا تاکہ وہ اپنی مرضی سے شادی کر سکے۔ اسے کہو کہ میرے پاس آئے۔" لیکن مالدا برمسکید اپنے شوہر سے ڈرتی تھی۔ ڈرے شیما رگیال نے کہا: "مجھ سے مت ڈرو۔ میں سنہری انگوٹھی، نیلی کتاب اور دیوتاؤں کی زمین کی قسم کھاتا ہوں۔ میں تمہیں نقصان نہیں پہنچاؤں گا۔ میرے قریب آؤ، میرے پاس آؤ۔"
مالدا برمسکید اس کے قریب آ گئی، اور رونے کا بہانہ کرنے لگی۔ اُس نے اُسے اپنی زبان سے اپنا چہرہ چاٹنے دیا، اور وہ ایک نہایت خوبصورت عورت میں تبدیل ہو گئی جس کے نقش و نگار سورج کی چمک کے برابر تھے۔ مالدا برمسکید قلعے واپس آئی اور چھت پر بیٹھ گئی تاکہ دیکھ سکے آگے کیا ہوتا ہے۔ چھت سے اس نے دیکھا کہ لفو کیسر نے اس کی شوہر ڈرے شیما رگیال کا پیٹ چاک (پھاڑ) کیا۔ پیٹ کے اندر سے درجنوں لوگ نکل آئے۔ سب ایک دوسرے سے کہہ رہے تھے: "میرے بیلوں نے اپنے سینگوں سے پیٹ پھاڑ دیا۔" کچھ نے کہا: "نہیں، میری کلہاڑی نے پیٹ کاٹا۔" کچھ نے کہا: "نہیں، ہمارے بازو نے پیٹ چیر دیا۔" اس طرح سب یہ دعویٰ کر رہے تھے کہ یہ واقعہ ان کی اپنی کوششوں کی وجہ سے پیش آیا۔ حقیقت میں، ان سب کو کبھی نہ کبھی عفریت نے کھا لیا تھا- یا تو صحرا میں یا دیگر مقامات پر جہاں وہ کام کر رہے تھے۔۔۔۔۔۔۔۔ (جاری ہے)
