"The Birth of Kesar in Mi-Yul"

(According to Bon-Chos tradition, there are three worlds:
1. "Lha-Yul": The upper world or heaven, the realm of the gods.
2. "Mi-Yul": The middle world, the realm of humans.
3. "Kha-Yul": The lower world, where Nagas and demonic creatures dwell.)
In those days, a man named Mirardob lived in the region. He and his wife steadily increased their wealth year after year, yet the people of "Zambor" would regularly come and plunder their possessions. Mirardob found this situation deeply distressing, so he decided to approach "Lhayukpon"—the supreme celestial deity—and ask for one of his sons. He said to his wife, "I am going to ask Lhayukpon for one of his sons; for it is better that the son of our Lord should enjoy our wealth than for the people of Zambor to plunder it."
Mirardob called out to Lhayukpon, saying, "O my Lord! We have no son, and the people of Zambor come every year to plunder our wealth."
"Now I have come to ask you to give me one of your sons, whom I may make my heir." Lhayukpon agreed without hesitation and suggested that Mirardub take his eldest son. As Mirardub and Lhayukpon’s eldest son were heading home, they reached a spot where the path split in two. Mirardub told the boy to choose one of the paths;
the first, which was shorter, carried the risk of encountering wild beasts and spirits.
The second path, which was the longer one, was quite peaceful.
The boy chose the longer route and said, "We won't have to fight wild beasts or spirits. Traveling the longer path means a longer life, so it is the better choice." Hearing this, Mirardub took the boy back to his father and asked for his other son.
Lhayokpon gave him another, younger son. Once again, they arrived at the two paths, and Mirardub asked Lhayokpon's son to choose one.
The boy chose the longer path to avoid fighting giants and wild beasts. In this manner, Mirardub returned six of Lhayokpon's sons, as they all wanted to choose the longer path to avoid battling giants and wild beasts.
The youngest son’s name was Lafu Kaisar. When Mirardub and Lafu Kaisar reached a fork in the road, Lafu Kaisar was asked which path they should take. The boy said: "Jinn and beasts may be powerful, but we possess the strength to confront them. We can fight them together; therefore, it is better to take the shorter route so that we may reach home this very night."  
Mirardub took Lafu Kaisar to Lhayukpon and said: "I wish to make this boy my heir because he is brave." However, when Lhayukpon told his son to go with Mirardub, the boy refused, stating that he would go only on the following conditions...
"If he is granted the power  
to make the sky cloudy or clear,  
then he will go willingly; otherwise, not.  
If he is granted the power  
to make someone deaf or bestow the gift of speech,  
then he will go willingly; otherwise, not.  
If he is granted the authority  
to bestow a son or a daughter upon someone,  
then he will go willingly; otherwise, not.  
If *Keling Yangkarmo*  
is given to him as a steed to ride,  
then he will go willingly; otherwise, not.  
If *Zomo Ruyonmo*  
is given to him as a milch cow,  
then he will go willingly; otherwise, not.  
If he is given hundreds of *Shashilo* and hundreds of *Meshilo* (demonic forces)  
to assist him in times of need,  
then he will go; otherwise, not."
"If Lhamo Brangmo (Lhayukpon’s daughter and Lafu Gesar’s sister)
is given to him in marriage,
then he will go willingly—otherwise not.
If he is granted eternal life,
free from death and extinction,
then he will go willingly—otherwise not."
Lhayukpon accepted all the boy's conditions, then ordered
that logs of wood be brought and incense burned. Consequently,
a huge pile of wood was gathered and placed
in front of Lhayukpon’s palace. He ordered the wood to be set ablaze, and as the flames leapt toward the sky,
he cast Lafu Gesar and Lhamo Brangmo into the fire.
The fire instantly engulfed the brother and sister, and they were reduced to ashes...
