Lionel Messi Retires from International Football: Argentina Legend Ends Historic National Team Career After World Cup Glory

Argentina’s football icon Lionel Messi has officially announced his retirement from international football, marking the end of one of the most extraordinary careers in sporting history.

The 39-year-old World Cup-winning captain said the decision was emotional but necessary, stating that he has given everything to the national team and now has “nothing left to give.”

Messi, who led Argentina to World Cup glory in Qatar 2022, leaves behind a legacy of 125 goals in 207 appearances, making him both the country’s all-time top scorer and most-capped player.

In a heartfelt statement shared on Instagram, Messi said:
