This piqued his curiosity, and he quickly went to tell the Lama about this astonishing incident, explaining that while the rest of the villagers were enjoying the fresh harvest, he had nothing to eat. 
The Lama accompanied him once again to assess the situation. As the Lama walked through the field, he spotted a gigantic grain of wheat lying on the ground. Upon seeing this, he instructed Khangchak Mechak to prepare a vast wheat field. 
Once the field was ready, the Lama himself gathered some metal spikes. He tucked them into his *skairaks* (a sash or cloth tied around the waist by Balti people while working in the fields) and began to climb the stalk of the wheat plant, 
while the landowner remained on the ground below. Upon reaching the top, the Lama saw that the stalk had three branches. He climbed onto one branch and observed that the wheat grains were ripe, with each grain the size of a hearthstone. 
He shook the branch, and the falling grains filled the field, piling up to the landowner's knees. When the Lama asked Khangchak Mechak if he wanted more grain, the man replied that he did not have enough and requested the Lama to shake the branch again.
This time, the Lama climbed onto the second branch and shook it vigorously. The resulting pile of fallen grain reached as high as the landlord's waist. Then, the Lama shook the third branch and asked if Khangchak Mechak had enough grain, but he received no reply. 
Greatly concerned, the Lama climbed down from the tree and looked around. There was grain everywhere, but Khangchak Mechak was nowhere to be seen. After searching for a while, the Lama noticed that only the landlord's head was visible above the pile of grain.
Khangchak Mechak felt very ashamed and told the Lama that he had simply wanted to show the villagers the vast quantity of grain he possessed; that was why he had repeatedly asked the Lama to shake the branches.
The Lama then suggested that the landlord take the grain to his home.
Khangchak Mechak filled all his storehouses and granaries, yet a portion of the grain still remained in the field. The Lama instructed the landlord to dig twelve pits and fill them with the remaining grain. 
The landlord followed his instructions and returned home. The following spring, the villagers once again came to the landlord to obtain grain for sowing wheat in their fields.
He handed over all his grain and then went to the field with his fellow workers to check the twelve furrows. He was astonished to find not a single grain in them. 
Deeply troubled by this, he once again turned to the Lama for guidance. Upon hearing the landlord's story, the Lama quickly went to the field and instructed Khangchak Mechak to examine the furrows carefully. 
In the first furrow, he found some hawk feathers; in the second, a goat's head; in the third, rabbit fur; and in the fourth, an earthworm.
The fifth pit contained some peacock feathers; the sixth, dog fur; the seventh, snakeskin; the eighth, a donkey's head; the ninth, a wolf's head; the tenth, a cat's head; the eleventh, some rooster feathers; and the twelfth, a fox's head. 
Yet, there was no trace of grain in any of the pits. When Khangchak Mechak reported his findings to the Lama, the Lama remarked that, contrary to appearances, he had actually received a blessing for prosperity.
And now, he was to marry twelve girls. The feudal lord immediately made preparations for his weddings and married twelve girls in a single night.
To his astonishment, all twelve of his wives gave birth to twelve sons on that very same night. The first son had the head of a hawk, the second had a head like a goat's, the third had the head of a rabbit, and the fourth resembled an earthworm.
The fifth resembled a peacock, the sixth had the head of a dog, the seventh was like a snake, the eighth had the head of a donkey, the ninth resembled a wolf, the tenth had the head of a cat, the eleventh was like a rooster, and the twelfth had the head of a fox. 
Thus, each of his sons was born with the head of an animal, a bird, or a reptile. Khangchak Mechak immediately ran to the Lama...

جب لاما کھیت میں گھوم رہا تھا تو اس نے زمین پر ایک دیو ہیکل گندم کا دانہ پڑا ہوا دیکھا۔ اسے دیکھ کر لاما نے کھانگچک میچک سے کہا کہ ایک بہت بڑا گندم کا کھیت تیار کرے۔ جب کھیت تیار ہو گیا تو لاما نے خود کچھ دھات کی کیلیں اکٹھی کیں اور انہیں اپنے "سکئیراکس" (بلتی لوگ کھیتوں میں کام کرتے ہوئے اکثر اپنا گلہ بند یا رومال کمر میں باندھتے ہیں) میں ڈال کر گندم کے پودے کے تنے پر چڑھنا شروع کر دیا، جبکہ زمیندار نیچے زمین پر رہ گیا۔ جیسے ہی لاما اوپر گیا، اس نے دیکھا کہ تنے کی تین شاخیں ہیں۔ وہ ایک شاخ پر چڑھا اور دیکھا کہ گندم کے دانے پک چکے ہیں اور ہر دانے کا سائز چولہے کے پتھر کے برابر ہے۔ اس نے شاخ کو ہلایا، گرتے ہوئے دانے نے کھیت کو بھر دیا، جو زمیندار کے گھٹنوں تک پہنچ گیا۔ جب لاما نے کھانگچک میچک سے پوچھا کہ کیا اسے مزید اناج چاہیے؟ تو اس نے جواب دیا کہ اس کے پاس کافی نہیں ہے اور لاما سے دوبارہ شاخ ہلانے کی درخواست کی۔ اب کی بار لاما دوسری شاخ پر چڑھا اور اسے زور سے ہلایا۔ اس بار گرے ہوئے اناج کا ڈھیر زمیندار کی کمر تک پہنچ گیا۔
پھر لاما نے تیسری شاخ کو ہلایا، اسی وقت پوچھا کہ کیا کھانگچک میچک کے پاس کافی اناج ہے؟ لیکن اسے کوئی جواب نہ ملا۔ لاما کافی پریشان ہو کر درخت سے نیچے اترا اور چاروں طرف دیکھا۔ ہر جگہ اناج تھا، لیکن کھانگچک میچک کہیں نظر نہیں آیا۔ کچھ دیر تلاش کرنے کے بعد، لاما نے دیکھا کہ اناج کے ڈھیر کے اوپر صرف زمیندار کا سر نظر آ رہا ہے۔ کھانگچک میچک بہت شرمندہ ہوا، اور لاما کو بتایا کہ وہ صرف دیہاتیوں کو اپنی بڑی مقدار میں اناج دکھانا چاہتا تھا اور اسی وجہ سے اس نے لاما سے بار بار شاخیں ہلانے کو کہا۔
اب لاما نے تجویز دی کہ زمیندار اناج کو اپنے گھر لے جائے۔ کھانگچک مچک نے اپنے تمام گودام اور غلے کے ذخیرے بھر دیے، لیکن پھر بھی کچھ مقدار کھیت میں پڑی رہ گئی۔ لاما نے زمیندار کو کہا کہ بارہ خندقیں کھودے اور باقی اناج ان میں بھر دے۔ زمیندار نے اس کی ہدایت پر عمل کیا اور پھر اپنے گھر واپس چلا گیا۔
اگلے بہار میں، دیہاتی ایک بار پھر اپنے کھیتوں میں گندم بونے کے لیے جاگیردار سے اناج لینے آئے۔ اس نے اپنا سارا اناج دے دیا، پھر ساتھی مزدوروں کے ساتھ کھیت میں بارہ کھائیوں کو چیک کرنے گیا۔ اسے حیرت ہوئی کہ ایک بھی دانہ ان کھائیوں میں موجود نہیں تھا۔ یہ بات اسے بہت پریشان کر گئی، اس نے ایک بار پھر رہنمائی کے لیے لاما سے رجوع کیا۔ جاگیردار کی کہانی سن کر، لاما جلدی سے کھیت میں پہنچا اور کھانگچک میچک سے کہا کہ احتیاط سے کھائیوں کا معائنہ کرے۔ پہلی کھائی میں اسے باز کے کچھ پر ملے، دوسری میں بکری کا سر، تیسری میں خرگوش کے بال، چوتھی میں کیچوا، پانچواں میں مور کے کچھ پر، چھٹے میں کتے کے بال، ساتواں میں سانپ کے جلد، آٹھواں میں گدھے کا سر، نواں میں بھیڑئے کا سر، دسواں میں بلی کا سر، گیارہواں میں مرغا کے کچھ پر جبکہ بارہواں میں لومڑی کا سر ملے۔ لیکن کسی بھی کھائی میں اناج کا کوئی نشان نہیں تھا۔ جب کھانگچک میچک نے اپنی دریافتیں لاما کو بتائیں، تو لاما نے کہا کہ ظاہری حالت کے برخلاف، دراصل اسے خوشحالی کی دعا ملی ہے اور اب اسے بارہ لڑکیوں سے شادی کرنی چاہیے۔ جاگیردار نے فوراً اپنی شادی کی تیاریاں کیں اور ایک ہی رات میں بارہ لڑکیوں سے شادی کر لی۔
اس کی حیرت کی بات یہ تھی کہ اس کی تمام بارہ بیویوں نے ایک ہی رات میں بارہ بیٹوں کو جنم دیا۔ پہلا بیٹا باز کے سر والا تھا، دوسرا بکری کے سر جیسا تھا، تیسرا خرگوش کے سر والا تھا، چوتھا کیچوے جیسا تھا، پانچواں مور جیسا، چھٹا کتے کے سر والا، ساتواں سانپ جیسا، آٹھواں گدھے کے سر جیسا، نواں بھیڑئے جیسا، دسواں بلی کے سر والا، گیارہواں مرغا جیسا اور بارہواں لومڑی کے سر جیسا تھا- اس طرح اس کے ہر بیٹے کی پیدائش یا تو کسی جانور، پرندے یا رینگنے والے کے سر کے ساتھ ہوئی۔ کھانگچک میچک فوراً لاما کے پاس دوڑا۔۔۔۔۔۔۔
