Lafo Kesar’s Northern Adventure – Episode 16 | Shyok Times

Kesar – Son of God

Chapter (Yuldak) No. 5

“Lafu Kesar’s Expedition to the North”

Episode Number.: 16

Lafo Kesar leapt onto his horse and struck it three terrifying blows with his whip, so fierce that its bones seemed to tremble. With a single mighty leap, the horse soared into the air and landed directly on the roof of Dray Shima Rgyal’s fortress.

From the palace rooftop, Lafo Kesar looked down into the fortress’s main corridor. What he saw was horrifying: hundreds of human skeletons, hundreds of horse skeletons, hundreds of dog skeletons, and hundreds of fox skeletons.

He shouted from the rooftop:

“Look! Malda Brumskid is a man-eating monster! She has devoured hundreds of people and hundreds of horses! What a vile woman she is! She has also eaten hundreds of dogs and foxes!

“Malda Brumskid, have one hundred men come with shovels and clear away all this filth. Another hundred men should carry baskets on their backs to remove the rubbish. Put one hundred men to work cleaning the ground and another hundred to lay carpets along the corridor!”

In the blink of an eye, Malda Brumskid had the entire mess cleared away. She had the corridor cleaned and made ready in the finest possible manner.

Then she called up to Lafo Kesar.

“Now, you son of a wicked mother, jump down here!”

When Lafo Kesar looked down and prepared to leap, he saw what appeared to be a vast sea of blue water below him. Once again, fear overcame him. Trembling with terror, he shouted from the rooftop:

“Malda Brumskid is a cunning woman! She is a deceiver!”

Malda Brumskid called back to him.

“This is not a sea. It is a courtyard made of turquoise slabs. If you do not believe me, take off your ring and throw it down. Listen to the sound it makes when it strikes the floor.”

Lafo Kesar removed his ring and tossed it down. When it struck the ground, it produced a faint metallic sound. He then realized that the courtyard was not a sea at all. It was a magnificent floor of turquoise slabs, arranged like a carpet.

Once again, Lafo Kesar transformed Kyangbo Helpa into a needle and tucked it into his collar. Then he leapt from the rooftop into the palace courtyard, where he and Malda Brumskid greeted each other with delight.

Malda Brumskid had been held captive by the hideous monster Dray Shima Rgyal and had longed for human affection and intimacy. She welcomed Lafo Kesar with all the warmth, tenderness, and passion that a young woman starved of love could offer. Together, they spent several happy days.

A few days later, as evening began to fall, the ground suddenly started shaking as though a powerful earthquake had struck.

Lafo Kesar turned to Malda Brumskid and asked, “What is happening?”

She replied, “Dray Shima Rgyal went out somewhere to eat. Now he is returning home.”

Growing anxious, Lafo Kesar asked, “Please, Malda Brumskid, can you hide me somewhere?”

The monster’s wife looked at him in surprise.

“Did you not come here to kill him? Did you not come to fight him?”

“No! No!” Lafo Kesar pleaded. “Please, find somewhere to hide me. If you love me, hide me somewhere and try to save my life. Otherwise, he will return and devour us both!”

Malda Brumskid replied firmly, “No! No! I will not let that happen.”

Malda Brumskid owned a large container in which she kept wool and spindles—small wooden tools, rounded in the middle and pointed at both ends, used for spinning thread.

She took everything out of the container and hid Lafo Kesar underneath it. Then she put the wool and spindles back inside, carefully covering his head with them.

No sooner had she finished than her husband returned, shaking the very foundations of the palace with his enormous presence.

“Malda Brumskid!” he roared. “Something smells foul, and I have a terrible feeling. Quickly, bring me my book! Hold it against your teeth and eyebrows and bring it to me at once!”

His wife picked up the book and passed it through the opening of the toilet, bringing it out through the lower doorway. She then passed it three times between her legs before finally handing it to her husband.

To be continued…

The mystery deepens, and danger draws closer to Lafo Kesar. What will happen when Dray Shima Rgyal discovers the truth? Read the next episode to uncover the next chapter of this gripping legendary tale.
